Java Tech Lead

Daily Responsibilities:

You will be the technical lead for the team, supporting the business and their large digital transformation. You will be involved in working with the product owner and the team of developers, designing and building systems using React frontends and Java Microservices.

Day to Day, you will be responsible for sharing technical expertise with the team, both with hands on development and as a mentor, working with the team of SRE Engineers, and being responsible for ensuring the team has healthy agile practices.

Key Skills:

• Expert in either Back End development with Java 8+ or Front End development with React, full stack experience is ideal
• Experience leading a software development squad or small team in an agile environment
• Must have experience in design and development of distributed, scalable, and highly available systems Able to coach and mentor team members and own the tech quality/standards for the squad
• Experience with CI/CD, Jenkins and Docker, ideally with Kubernetes

Flexible working – Hybrid (Locations; Reigate/Manchester/Glasgow) – Your base will be your closest office once a week.

Equity Release Actuary

We are recruiting for an Equity Release Actuary for a leading UK insurer, to lead the quarterly ERM valuation and perform the annual basis setting for the entire ERM portfolio. It is a role with good senior exposure and this person will be required to communicate ERM valuation results to senior execs (CIO, CFO and Chief Actuary) on a regular basis.

This person will also have the opportunity to get involved in:-

- Rating and structuring of ERM
- Inflation risk management
- Capital modelling for ERM and market risk

There is no requirement to have equity release experience, good knowledge of reporting/valuations and stakeholder skills are the only pre-requisites.

It’s a highly supportive team with a great work-life balance and quality of technical work. The role will be based from London 2 days a week with the rest of the time from a remote location, as desired.
